An Uncommon Wedding

On Saturday, June 17, I had the opportunity to be a part of The Makeup Show Chicago's very first fashion show and fundraiser. The local charity that was chosen to benefit from 100% of the proceeds from the event is Deborah's Place, a women's shelter.

We had to come up with the concept for the fashion show as well as the dress, makeup, hair, and choose a model to represent our look on the runway. I managed to get a team of creatives to help me out with the event. I couldn't have done the event without their help. Many times, I felt like quitting because I didn't think I was going to get everything in place for the show on time. But luckily everything worked out and I am very happy with the outcome.

Sam Klug of Sam Klug Artistry reached out to me via Instagram after seeing my post about getting a creative team for the show. Sam is from Michigan and was already planning to come to Chicago that weekend for The Makeup Show and bought a ticket for An Uncommon Wedding.

I reached out my cousin, Zoraida, to be our runway model. After saying yes, I knew I could count on her to make it to the fitting, hair/makeup prep, and the show.

After reaching out to several designers and stylists, Borris  J. Powell was the only person truly interested in helping me out and doing us a favor of borrowing one of his gorgeous gowns for this amazing cause. Plus, his studio was within walking distance of the venue, Revel Fulton Market.

A couple of the other makeup artists and I were able to secure a time slot at Chicago Artists Studios to get our gorgeous models ready for hair and makeup. Then the models got dressed at Revel.

It was a bit nerve-wracking knowing that my work was going to be displayed along with so many other talented artists in the industry like Nick Lujan for Make Up For Ever, Danessa Myricks, Roque Cozzette, Muse Beauty, and Make Up First School. The other participating artists were Taylor Ann, Yenuhen Rangel, Brandee Danielle, Latoya Howard, Jackie Van Riet for Muse, Shannon Rodriguez, and Aga Kaskiewics.

Seeing everyone's vision come to life on the runway was such a remarkable feeling. I felt so fortunate to be a room of individuals with such unbelievable talents. We were able to help raise over $5,000 for Deborah's Place. I can't wait for next year to be able to help bless another charity.

Makeup & Hair for Boudoir Editorial

Last month, I had the chance to collaborate with Ravi of Provocouture Boudoir. We did a boudoir editorial featuring shoes from Pazadessi. Our model was the lovely Emily Bramer. Jana from Sri & Jana Photography did the styling of the shoot, putting lingerie and shoe pieces together. This was our first shoot as a team and everyone was a delight to work with.

For the first look, we went natural and built up the shades and intensity of her smokey eye. There were a few lip changes as well. I don't even remember how many outfit changes we had but there were a lot of them.I even went live twice on Facebook to give people a taste of what happens during a photo shoot and the images that can be expected from this collaboration.

After our shoot was complete, we celebrated with tacos and a taste of tequila. Sri & Jana have a little tequila venture that they are in the works of completing. Kudos to them and I can't wait to see the outcome of their tequila business.

Enjoy this little gallery of pictures so far. There will be come to come.

Behind The Scene Photos From Spring Inspired Shoot

Earlier this month, I collaborated on a photo shoot with Wild & Free Photography, Lashlockz Artistry, and Andrea Blake. We prepped Andrea at Adrienne's home and headed out to downtown Naperville to shoot. It was a nice sunny day which was perfect. Enjoy! :)
